WPCC Youth Ministries
Student Ministry A powerful, authentic walk with Jesus does not begin when a person "grows up." We believe wholeheartedly that students can have a vital relationship with Christ and can make an impact on their worlds...right now. That's why we are passionately challenging students' grades 6th - 12th to make their faith their own. We want them to wrestle with real questions, to hunger for God, and to learn a foundation of Truth on which to stand. We want to provide a safe place for them to develop friendships, to be challenged spiritually, and to serve others practically in this community and abroad. We provide relevant, Biblical teaching, positive adult leadership, and diverse programming that are aimed to engage students of all spiritual levels.

Our youth ministry recognizes that life is brutal, and that students of today face enormous odds. In the midst of the very real mess, we believe that students can truly become Disciples of Christ--individuals that will lay down their lives, pick up their crosses, and follow the Master. We want to walk with them through that journey of discipleship and want to fight for their hearts in the midst of these vulnerable years.

"Anyone that wants to come after Me must first deny himself, pick up his cross, and follow Me." --Jesus (Mark 8:34)

The Journey: (for Middle School Students)

Sunday School: Sun. Mornings, 10am - 11am, The Home
The Journey: Wed. Nights, 6:30pm - 8pm, The Home

The middle school years are key in the development of any student. It is in these formative years that many students make choices about who they are and what they believe that will determine the outcome of their high school years. We love and value middle school students, and we believe that they have a vital role to play in their schools, their homes, this church, and this community. We want to walk alongside them in their journeys of faith and teach them Truth along the way. Our main programming on Wednesday nights includes worship, crazy games, and small group activities. Every week at The Journey, students are grouped into small groups with an adult and high school leader where they discuss practical issues of their faith based on the truth of Scripture. We also have special events that provide an excellent chance for fellowship like waterpark days, campfires, laser tag, and a summer Extreme Adventure camp, as well. Here at Community Church, we realize that these middle school years are all about change—and we want the opportunity to positively influence that change for Christ. Come check it out!

Student Leadership Team: First Sunday of Every Month, after church, The Home

High school students are assaulted every day by the media, by their friends, and by other influences that give them messages that they are not valuable, that their choices don't matter, and that they are too young to follow God seriously. Our high school ministry wants to attack those lies, and ground our students in the Truth of Scripture—the truths that they are precious to their Heavenly Father, that their decisions do have real consequences, and that their God is calling them to an extraordinary life of influence and knowledge of Him today. We believe that truly following Christ is oftentimes a strenuous climb to the top of a mountain—but we also believe that the view from the summit is well worth the climb.

The Summit is a dynamic weekly event on Sunday nights that gives students opportunities for fellowship, worship, and discipleship. We bring in engaging teachers, host "coffee house" for live band performances, play wild (and oftentimes messy and smelly) games, and laugh lots. The first Sunday afternoon of every month is generally dedicated to community service. We take this afternoon to practically serve those around us in need—loading firewood, feeding the homeless, cleaning houses, etc. We find that when we serve others around us, our students get a real picture of those in need, our group is blessed by working together, and the community is able to see love in action.

Student leadership is a key part in our high school ministry, as well. Students that want to help shape the ministry are given important roles and tasks which allow them to put their fingerprints on what we do and allow their own leadership skills to develop.

We also have special events like laser tag, retro prom, camping trips, White Out ski retreat, and mission trips throughout the year which help unify our group and challenge their spiritual walks.

Everyone is welcome at all events. Check it out!
